On February 21, confusion around season four of Wynnona Earp ran ramped when showrunner Emily Andras tweeted out a since-deleted post saying, “get ready to fight for our thing.” Fans quickly took to twitter causing #WynonnaEarp and #FightForWynonna to trend nationwide. They were ready to fight for their show, but they had no idea what was going on.
Fans can be put to ease for the moment because things seem to be okay from a statement Fandomopolis received from SYFY: “SYFY ordered Season 4 of Wynonna Earp from IDW and is completely committed to the series. This has not changed.”
Fandomopolis also reached out to IDW Publishing, but at the time of publication, we haven’t heard back.
IDW Media Holdings has had some turmoil lately within. According to The Hollywood Reporter, IDW Entertainment president, David Ozer, stepped down in August last year. Ozer was the person responsible for negotiations with SYFY for Wynonna Earp.
Ozer wasn’t the only departure from IDW Media Holdings. The CEO, Ted Adams, stepped down to take a sabbatical but is expected to take a creative role when he returns.
Fans have pointed out that Wynonna Earp should be in production now for a 2019 release date, but it’s unclear what the hold up is in production for season four.
While we still don’t know what’s going on, it’s clear that no matter what, Earpers will come to their shows aid.
Fandompolis will update this story as it develops.
