Lucy Hale is back on the small screen, and other than the stylish clothes in Katy Keene, it’s nothing like the world of Pretty Little Liars. It’s fun, it’s aspirational, and they’re in the big city.

For a Riverdale spin-off, you might not think of a light-hearted and feel-good show. As Josie (Ashleigh Murray) says in this episode, “I’m from Riverdale, it is the murder capital of the world.”

While Riverdale is supposed to be in the same world as Katy Keene, this world is much different. It’s a lot more like The Bold Type, three young women going after their dreams in NYC. These characters are also going after their dreams of fashion design, Broadway, and a record deal. This show is sure to make you want to go after your dreams.

Lucy’s character, Katy, is in love with life, New York, and fashion. I love her so far, but I want to see more layers to her.

If you watch Riverdale, you already know Josie, and you’ll be happy to know that Katy Keene seems to utilize her a lot more. We got to hear her sing twice!

Jorge / Ginger Lopez (Jonny Beauchamp) seems like he will be a lot of fun. Whether all glammed up as Ginger or working towards his dream in sweats, this character has a lot of offer. He’s proud of who he is and he’s not afraid to speak his truth.

We get introduced to an incredible world of these characters but it’s not all perfect. Katy, Jorge, and Josie hit some roadblocks on the way to succeeding their goals. We’ll have to see where the rest of the season takes us.
