What would have been the season two finale of Legacies was at some points cheesy, like when Kaleb drove in swerving and getting out looking, oh so cool. At times heartfelt with MG and Handon moments. Very high school with Kaleb rapping at a typical party, and at times extraordinary to see just how much Lizzie has grown.
Spoilers below.
The Necromancer (Ben Geurens) was making his move, and the Salvatore School students came together to save the world again.

Most of the students were on monster detail. Landon (Aria Shahghasemi) and Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) were getting students out of the school and facing down the Necromancer, and Lizzie (Jenny Boyd) and Josie (Kaylee Bryant) went after Alyssa (Olivia Liang).
I’m always excited to see Lizzie and Josie team up! This time they created a new prison world with Alyssa. They are carrying on a family tradition when they can’t figure out how to defeat a monster. They send them to a new or already existing prison world.
Landon and Hope found an obstacle when she couldn’t enter the school because of a boundary spell. She didn’t like it, but Landon had to go in to destroy the dark object.
He may have no powers, but that doesn’t mean he’s not resourceful. He took Malavore, aka daddy, in to defeat the Necromancer.
Josie, Lizzie, and Alyssa’s spell didn’t go quite as planned. Landon and Hope ended up in the prison world, too.

I am a little confused about how Landon and Hope jumped through the pit and ended up back in the real world. And did everyone forget about them? We see in the promo that Alaric (Matthew Davis) is helping Hope, but it’s unclear if she had to remind them who she was again. It’s giving me a headache running through scenarios of how this all worked.
Plus, did Landon turn to goo because he took Malavore in or because he went through the pit? He died in the prison world. Does that mean he can still live in the real world? See, very confusing.
We did get a very nice moment between Handon. Love them or hate them, you had to admit they’ve hit their stride. There was a time that I liked them, but then it felt like the writers were forcing them together too much. Now, they feel right for each other. And, I loved seeing Hope so blissfully happy. She hasn’t had a lot of happiness in her life.

I’m heartbroken that her happiness couldn’t last. Just as she’s saying how happy she is, Landon turns to goo. And on their anniversary, to boot.
Handon was not the only ship heartbreak in “Hold on Tight.”
We might have thought Lizzie and MG (Quincy Fouse) were finally going to get together, but she waited too long, and Alyssa stepped in. MG is only partially right that he treated her like Lizzie treated him because Alyssa hasn’t made it easy for anyone to like her. And the sweet guy that he is, he’s giving her a chance. I still don’t trust her, though.
Leave it to MG to help save the world because he has such a big heart. He believed Alyssa would do the right thing, and she did.

MG and Alyssa being a couple aren’t the only things that are going to change. Josie is going to transfer to Mystic Falls High. I hate to see Josie and Lizzie separated, but this is what she needs. It will be an interesting dynamic to see Josie be a human away from all the supernatural beings. Both of her moms got a taste of ordinary life. The uniforms they wear are super cute, but I would love to see Josie’s style more.
Josie is my favorite of the twins, but there are moments where I love Lizzie too, but what I’ve mostly loved is her character growth. I hope she doesn’t revert to her old ways.
She was already on her way to being a better person, with some setbacks, but I think Caroline’s letter really helped her embrace the young woman she’s grown into.
